To optimize my resume for a financial job, I used prompts that focused on shifting the tone from general customer service to finance-related skills. For example, I asked the AI to enhance my resume for a finance-related role and to highlight transferable skills like cash handling, accuracy, and accountability. I also emphasized aligning my experience with roles such as banking or entry-level finance positions.

The main changes between my original resume and the AI-generated version were in wording, structure, and focus. My original resume described my roles in a more casual and general way, while the revised version reframed my experience using professional, finance-oriented language. Tasks like handling payments became “managing high-volume financial transactions with accuracy,” and teamwork was reframed to emphasize operational efficiency and accountability. The formatting was also improved to look cleaner and more organized, with clearer sections and stronger action verbs.

Through this process, I learned that prompt engineering is important because the quality of the output depends heavily on how specific and goal-oriented the prompt is. Tailoring content for a specific audience like finance employers—requires emphasizing relevant skills and reframing past experience to match industry expectations.
